Fundraising

When you organise an event to raise funds for us, your efforts will transform lives.

For instance, you could raise £192 to buy a Boer goat for one of the 600 young people and 100 families we are helping in Pader, Uganda, where families’ lives are affected by years of conflict and HIV/AIDS. Not only will you be helping one of these young people to earn an income to feed their family, you will also be assisting poor communities to earn livelihoods far into the future.

Boer goats are more expensive than local goats because they thrive in difficult conditions, having high resistance to disease and requiring minimal management. They produce more offspring than local goats and breed up to 10 years of age, so the young people pass on the offspring to other vulnerable families. This is known as ‘Passing on the Gift’. After three years your donation (one goat) will help another 7 vulnerable families to provide medicine, food and education for their children.

Raise £1,000 for us and with your help 5 families could earn a living through rearing Boer goats like this one, pictured with Adrian, our Programme Manager, on a visit to partners and beneficiaries in Uganda.

This is just one way you can support our work.  APT is working in many different areas and needs funds to continue helping the poorest and most vulnerable people.

Please help:

Use your place in the London or other marathons/half marathons to raise funds. Just £1,000 could help APT develop a new project that could help thousands of people to improve their lives

Dine out with 3 friends. If each of you went without one course you could donate £20 to give a child the chance to start school and wear a school uniform

Organise a quiz night in your local pub and raise £300 to help 15 children from families affected by HIV/AIDS to eat at least one nourishing meal a day

Get your school, your church or local group to hold a ‘Pass it on’ event. Sell or swap unwanted items and charge a small entry fee. Raise £50 to help a widowed mother and family whose lives have been torn apart by war. Your donation could give her skills and training to provide for her family of 5 or 6 children.  £200 could help to transform the lives of 30 people.

Whatever you decide to do your efforts will give more people the chance to climb their way out of poverty.
