APT - Where we began

APT was established (as APT Design and Development) in 1984 with the aim of assisting disadvantaged people in developing countries to break out of the poverty trap. We began by providing small business entrepreneurs in developing countries with technical expertise and appropriate technology (hence the name APT), and developed a number of designs of tools and equipment. We still believe that small enterprises are an essential tool for development, however as the need was identified we moved into new countries and extended the scope of our response.
